Sanibel Blink— Sawyer Michaelson

A sea breeze blows,
the salty air hypnotizing.
The wind instructs the tide,
lulling the sky to sleep.
In the murky waters of the swamp,
the gator smashes his jaws,
after sucking down a fishy snack.
His eyes flick back and forth, hungry for more.
The spoonbills dance in the mangroves,
and bobcats growl in the underbrush.
Geckos dart between the claw-like branches,
never seeming to stop.
Seashells converse with the starfish,
getting a tan before winter.
The sun sets over orange water,
a green flash winking as it goes out.
