About Keren Or
Keren Or (Ray of Light), is a creative arts contest for teens in grades 7-12.
This organization was founded in 2004 by Gerald (z''l) and Eileen Siegel (z''l) to honor the memory of their daughter, Karen Siegel-Jacobs. Karen wrote wonderful poetry and stories as a teenager, and her family has chosen to honor her memory by encouraging and supporting the creative efforts of other Jewish teenagers.
13th Annual Keren Or Contest
Minnesota Jewish students in grades 7 - 12 are invited to submit poems, prose (short stories and creative essays- approximately 1200 words), black and white or color photographs, and short videos. Deadline for the 13th year of Keren Or is February 17, 2017 by 5:00 p.m.
Prizes are awarded in each category (poetry, prose, photography, and video). All submissions are judged by a panel of distinguished judges who are teachers and artists in their own right. Winning entries will be published in The American Jewish World, on this website, and on display for a period of time at the Sabes JCC.
