The Lily — Zivia Tirado

It is the night of the lilies
The moon shimmers
Over the pale river
And the willow cries in the warm breeze

The evening feels like silk
And the atmosphere smells of myrrh
The lilies dance together
Under the periwinkle sky

Crickets chirp in unison
Frogs croak to a tune
Singing for the most beautiful lily
In all the pond

Every flower closes
As the night shuts them tight
But the lovely lily remains open
Still bringing beauty to the world
